Students in the combatives level one class with the 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, practice moves in order to take down their opponent during a combatives level one course Dec. 12 at Fort Campbell, Ky. The purpose of combatives is to educate Soldiers on how to protect themselves without firearms, provide non-lethal responses to battlefield situations and to instill the warrior instinct to provide the necessary aggression to meet the enemy unflinchingly.
