Upper-class midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy recite the Oath of Leadership on Induction Day for the Class of 2011. More than 1,200 plebes, or freshmen, reported to the academy to begin Plebe Summer, six weeks of intensive indoctrination into military and academy life.
