Andrew Lewis, a Target Vulnerability Studies Noncommissioned Officer in Charge from the 36th Intelligence Squadron, flips through the book “Valor at Polebrook: The Last Flight of Ten Horsepower, August 18, 2023 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. Lewis received the book from Mr. David Mathies, 76-year-old nephew of Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sgt. Archibald Mathies. Lewis connected with Mr. Mathies during his search for Staff Sgt. Mathies’ Medal of Honor. During his NCOA course, Lewis toured the Enlisted Heritage Research Institute and learned that one of the eight enlisted Medal of Honors was unaccounted for.
