U.S. Army Nayama Nadesh a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high yield Explosives ) specialist of the 111th Medical Battalion, 36th Sustainment Brigade, 36th Infantry Division is a shining example of the adept and educated professionals who serve in the ranks of the 36th Infantry Division.
A native of Bamenda Cameroon, Nadesh, was awarded the academic achievement lottery to pursue an education in America. Later she applied and gained citizenship— a milestone that she says was a dream come true.
“Growing up we all watched American movies like the Highschool Musical were all a dream to us,” said Nadesh.
“Achieving this dream has meant a lot to me to be able to tell my family, help a lot of people back home Meant a lot to me able to tell my family at home and help a lot of people— like an Cameroon orphanage in need and I’ve been able to bring my younger brother here.”
Nadesh, 28, enlisted five years ago and earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Bio Chemistry from St. Mary’s University in Maryland and a Masters of Science in Cyber Security from Western Governor University. Both degrees she says her Army service benefits paid for.
“Once you get in the Army there are so many opportunities to go to school, earn a degree and get better jobs,” said Nadesh.
“I took advantage of these programs and the Army paid for my masters degree. My dream is to work in cyber.”
Nadesh currently works for a cyber software company and says she is enjoying learning new things everyday.
“The Army helped build my self-confidence,” said Nadesh. “I feel confidence to go after more learning opportunities, more challenges and grow to be a better leader in the Army.”
