CORONADO, Calif. - (Aug. 17, 2023) Engineman 3rd Class Ventura Pena, assigned to Maritime Expeditionary Security Group (MESG) 1, observes the jet flow of a 34-foot patrol boat during an underway operation check as preparation for inspection and survey (INSURV) in San Diego harbor. As a subcomponent of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, the Maritime Expeditionary Security Force is a core Navy capability that provides port and harbor security, high value asset security, and maritime security in the coastal and inland waterways.
