U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Thorsten Johnson builds a shelter for jungle survival training during Jungle Leaders Course at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Okinawa, Japan, July 24, 2023. The course is designed to test physical and mental resilience of Marine Corps leaders in a harsh jungle environment. Johnson, a native of Buffalo, New York is an infantry officer with 3d Battalion, 5th Marines and is currently forward deployed in the Indo-Pacific under 4th Marines, 3d Marine Division as part of the Unit Deployment Program. .
