Dozens of Champions of the Coast from the Galveston District are training to obtain Commercial Drivers Licenses. Christopher De La Cerda, CDL training supervisor, observes Joe Vernier, Galveston District civil engineer tech, practice parking a 37-foot boat trailer while driving a Ford F-350 Super Duty truck as part of CDL training near the Jadwin Building. This was the second of three parts of CDL training. The first part was classroom learning. The third and final part will be testing with the Texas Dept. of Transportation for the official CDL. Operating large commercial motor vehicles requires specialized skills and training that must be learned. A CDL is a professional license permitting the holder of the license to drive those large commercial vehicles and buses on public roadways in Texas and in the United States. This license demonstrates that you have been trained, tested, and are qualified to safely operate large commercial motor vehicles.
