U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, clear a passage way during close quarters training aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD-20), in the Coral Sea, July 19, 2023. The close quarters training allowed Marines to understand and properly practice multiple ways to secure a naval vessel during a visit, board, search, and seizure. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
