230717-N-YC581-1061 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 17, 2023) Aviation Electronics Mate 1st Class Terrance Long, back, a native of Longview, Texas, and Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman Wyatt Heitgrass, a native of Berkshire County, Oklahoma, conduct a plane captain practical exam on an EA-18G Growler, assigned to the “Gauntlets” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 136, in the hangar bay of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1’s flagship, is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. Integrated exercises prepare our Sailors to respond quickly. U.S. 3rd Fleet works in close coordination with other numbered fleets to provide commanders with capable, ready forces to deploy forward and win in day-to-day competition, in crisis, and in conflict.
