U.S. Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and U.S Navy Sailors with the amphibious dock landing ship USS New Orleans (LPD-18) participate in the ice cream social aboard the USS New Orleans, in the Coral Sea July 4, 2023. The Marines and Sailors aboard the USS New Orleans held the ice cream social in order to celebrate America’s Independence Day. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
