Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Russel, an infantryman with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 200th Infantry Regiment with the New Mexico Army National Guard, a component of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT), unfurls and American flag during the 41st IBCT's during a battalion attack scenario at Camp Roberts, Calif., June 24, 2023. Russel received the flag from his grandpa, who served in France and Italy during WW2. Russel has had the flag on three separate deployments in the Middle East and Africa.
