The speaker tower assembly of the Rocket, Artillery and Mortar Warning system stands above a base camp at McGregor Range, N.M., during Network Integration Evaluation 13.1, Nov. 13. Radars placed at strategic locations throughout the area of operation pick up indirect fire, send that information to RAM Warn, then sound a warning of “incoming” over the tower. The speaker tower assembly, along with the radars that detect indirect fire, is equipment already used by the U.S. Army. RAM Warn is a force protection asset capable of detecting indirect fire up to 20 seconds before impact. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Candice Harrison, 24th Press Camp Headquarters, Fort Bliss, Texas)
