U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Ferenck Espinoza, a Managua, Nicaragua native and a data systems administrator with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, poses for a photo aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Atlantic Ocean, May 26, 2023. Espinoza joined the Marine Corps to build a solid foundation for his current and future family, noting “being a migrant from Nicaragua this country has given me a lot of opportunities that I never had in my old country.” He goes on to say “I decided to serve as a way to pay back the country that has given my family and I a new life.”
Espinoza’s favorite part of his job is being able to meet and interact with new people every day and being able to contribute to accomplishing the mission of the MEU. “My family and my Marines motivate me every day,” said Espinoza. “I want to be able to take care of my family and want to watch my Marines flourish in their careers inside and out of the Marine Corps.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
