    U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Anthony McDonough, a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) defense specialist, with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (26 MEU), scans a meter to detect radiation during a full mission profile event part of a scenario-based CBRN hazard training course in Perry, Georgia, May 17, 2023. During this course, the Marines have conducted chemical sampling, radiation dose mapping, wide area searches and tactical casualty response and recovery drills. CBRN Specialist are responsible for conducting training in CBRN defense monitoring, surveying and reconnaissance, providing chemical detection and identification, gather biological agent collection and sampling, decontamination of military personnel, equipment and casualties and execute protective measures and first aid to unit personnel.
