U.S. Marines with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), and local Palauan volunteers work together to pass sand bags up a mountain to improve their tourist attraction on Koror, Republic of Palau, May 11, 2023. The Marines conduct community relations events with the Palauan public to enhance relationships with strategic partners. The Wright-class aviation logistics ship SS Curtiss (T-AVB-4), with MALS-16 embarked, is deployed in support of Immortal Warrior 23, an exercise which activates the Military Sealift Command ship to provide expeditionary intermediate-level aircraft maintenance and supply for U.S. and potentially Ally and Partner forces.
