A team of maintainers from the 100th Maintenance Squadron has been replacing the vertical stabilizer pins on some of the 100th Air Refueling Wing’s fleet of KC-135 Stratotankers and show some of the pins and equipment used to replace them at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England, March 6, 2023. Recently, a Time Compliance Technical Order requirement found that some vertical stabilizer did not conform to regulations which resulted in flight restrictions on some aircraft at bases within the United States. The 100th MXS team immediately conducted its own inspections and found that some aircraft carried the affected pins, so they ordered new parts and started replacing them.
