MAYPORT, Fla. (March 25, 2023) Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Seth Collier, assigned to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces South/U.S. 4th Fleet Navy Reserve component (NR USNAVSOUTH/C4F), receives a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, for his role in UNITAS LXIII, from Lt. Cmdr. Roderick “Rodeo” Lacerna, executive officer, at an awards ceremony on March 25, 2023. Collier is a native of Miami and a 1994 graduate of North Miami Beach High School. "UNITAS is one of the better annual trainings I have been a part of because we get to really do the work and interact with international partners," said Collier. "I filled a role as an instructor and an installer during the exercise. Working together creates a strong brother-to-brother concept that you would expect for our role here in 4th Fleet." UNITAS brought together multinational forces from Belize, Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Namibia, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the United States conducting operations in and off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The yearly exercise trains forces to conduct joint maritime operations through the execution of anti-surface, anti-submarine, anti-air, amphibious and electronic warfare operations that enhance warfighting proficiency and increase interoperability among participating naval and marine forces. USNAVSOUTH/4th Fleet supports U.S. Southern Command's joint and combined military operations by employing maritime forces in cooperative maritime security operations in order to maintain access, enhance interoperability, and build enduring partnerships in order to enhance regional security and promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the Caribbean, Central and South American regions.(U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Hunter S.
