During this rotational deployment, Navy Seabees and Marine Corps engineers undertake preparation for the southern access, the island’s main throughfare, and the expansion of the airstrip, which benefit local populations in the Indo-Pacific and enhance the United States’ ability to render support and aid in response to disasters or other crises.
