Indiana Guardsmen with the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade and partners from Slovakia conducted aerial gunnery training on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
The international partners practiced live-firing mounted 134-B weapon systems from inside a UH-60 Blackhawk.
“Our partners are motivated and eager to learn and ask a lot of intelligent questions,” said Chief Warrant Officer 4 Ross Noble, 2-238th General Support Aviation Battalion standardization officer and master gunner. “They aren’t just here to see the states. They are here to train. It is motivating to say the least.”
Slovakia is a peer ally with similar capabilities and equipment as the Indiana National Guard. This partnership is special and effective because of the competitive cross-training capabilities, which helps maintain the Indiana National Guard’s lethality and war-fighting capabilities.
It took a year’s worth of planning and coordination to make the training a reality.
