230307-N-NO819-1001 PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Philippines (March 7, 2023) – Builder 3rd Class Israel Garcia, a Seabee assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 (left), and Sgt. Robert Kemp, a U.S. Marine combat engineer assigned to 9th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB) (right), install reinforcement steel bars in preparation for a floor slab concrete placement for the Luzviminda Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief facility March 7. NMCB-5 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories to support and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB-5 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction.
