230421-N-JC800-0004 SINGAPORE (Apr. 21, 2023) - U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Erich Heyner, assigned to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific/Task Force 73 (COMLOG WESTPAC/ CTF 73), is awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal by Rear Adm. Mark Melson during an awards ceremony, Apr. 21. Heyner was recognized for helping improve Joint Force combat-readiness in the Indo-Pacific by developing a new system to supplant aging munitions with next generation weapons and ordnance. His efforts resulted in a cost-savings of more than $700,000. COMLOG WESTPAC supports deployed surface units and aircraft carriers, along with regional Allies and partners, to facilitate patrols in the South China Sea, participation in naval exercises and responses to natural disasters.
