Chilean Air Force Airman Javier Villalobos observes the Raven Telescope installation team (Doug Quetz 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) technical advisor for intelligence, Zach Gazak, Air Force Research Laboratory contractor, Tim Tichawa, Space Operations Command senior project engineer, and Dr. David Strong, Falcon Telescope support Contractor) securing the AstroHaven dome that shields the telescope from ambient light and the elements March 27, 2023 at Cerro Moreno Air Force Base near Antofogasta, Chile. The site is the first of its kind in South America, and its strategic location greatly expands the U.S. Space Force and Chilean Air Force’s ability to track satellites in geosynchronous earth orbit and low earth orbit over the Southern Hemisphere.
