Spc. Alberto Apolinario (center) a native of Newark, N.J., and a member of the 1st Platoon, 541st Sapper Company, 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade speaks to the Spanish Engineer Company Commander. Apolinario was acting as interpreter for his platoon on the second day of INTERDICT 12, Oct. 28. The 'Outlaw' platoon was part of the LIVEX which was based on several IED events in a route clearance scenario. The intent is to focus on the roles that military engineers can perform to defeat the enemy's IED system using a scenario as similar to Afghanistan as possible.
