Dean Gilbert, from the U.S. Coast Guard Research & Development Center (RDC), based in New London, Connecticut, showcases the R/V DOLPH’s autonomous capabilities during a demonstration at Coast Guard Base Galveston, Texas, Mar. 15, 2023. The R/V DOLPH is a 29-foot Response Boat-Small outfitted with a remote piloting system and has been in continuous development by the RDC with the hopes of developing a concept of operations for the integration of uncrewed surface vessels into Coast Guard missions.
