Sgt. 1st Class William A. Hadfield, a combat engineer in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, works as a battle non-commissioned officer in the tactical operations center during the pilot week of Network Integration Evaluation 13.1 on Oct. 23, 2012. Hadfield, a native of Boulder, Mo., helps to test multiple new communication systems. More than 3,000 U.S. troops from Fort Bliss, Texas, participate in the five-week event.
