Mohamed Ahmed, an electrical engineer in Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport Division Newport’s Sensors and Sonar Systems Department, has received a number of awards during his 40-year career. At left, Ahmed (third row, second from left) was part of the 1994 Automated Fleet Towed Array Sonar (AFTAS) team that received an Excellence in the Area of Engineering Award. At right, Ahmed displays the annual Performance Award he received in 1993 from his branch head at the time, Stephen Dzerovych. On Nov. 21, 2022, Ahmed marked 50 years since arriving in the United States as a refugee from Uganda.
