U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, 55th Wing Security Forces Squadron (SFS), and Mortenson Construction broke ground on the new SFS campus coming to Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. The Missouri River flood in 2019 left more than 30 percent of the military installation covered in water. The 55th Wing SFS suffered a complete loss of their headquarters building, combat arms training facility and military working dog kennels. As part of the Offutt Flood Recovery Program, Offutt AFB partnered with the Omaha District and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center in an effort to plan and reconstruct what was lost during the flood.
