Let’s talk wick drains!
Installation of wick drains at the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain levee site will expedite the consolidation of the soil foundation.
Instead of the underground water going through the soil itself, the water goes through the wick drains and shoots up. Since the West Shore levee is being built in marsh land, this will allow the levee to “settle” more quickly.
