Lt. Col. Jon Larsen, commander of the 25th Infantry Division’s 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, makes remarks during the opening ceremony for Orient Shield 12 at Aibano Training Area Oct. 24. Orient Shield is an annual premier tactical level bilateral exercise co-hosted by U.S. Army Japan and the Japan Ground Self Defense Force. The exercise will run from now until Nov. 8 and involves more than 750 soldiers and 600 ground self defense force members.
