During the Industry Day (1 March 2023), USACE officials from the Jacksonville District discussed Río Puerto Nuevo Flood Control Project, Supplemental Contract 3. This contract focuses on widening the existing Río Piedras canal and reinforce it with new walls which will allow the deepening of the canal and increase its capacity. The presentation also included updates about the Supplemental Puerto Rico Civil Works Construction projects of Río Puerto Nuevo, De la Plata, Río Grande de Arecibo, and others around the Island. USACE representatives briefed attendees on the agency’s solicitation and contracting process, offered a seminar on the validation process for material testing laboratories, meet with contractor for capabilities beefing sessions and provided networking opportunities for the attendees who expressed satisfaction with the event.
