A dog tag belonging to Cpl. Larry A. Hughes, a U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran, is displayed in a shadow box that was presented to Hughes' family during a ceremony in Inglis, Florida, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023. Former U.S. Senator James Webb, a decorated Marine Corps veteran who received the Navy Cross for actions while serving as a platoon commander in Vietnam, and Michael Desch, a professor of International Relations at the University of Notre Dame and the director of the Notre Dame International Security Center, recovered Hughes’ dog tag while conducting a battlefield study at the An Hoa airstrip in Vietnam. The dog tag was subsequently returned to the family of Cpl. Hughes, who passed away in 2019. (Photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Pedro A. Rodriguez)
