COL. James Booth, Commander USACE, Jacksonville District, participated in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New Transient Training Facilities in Salinas, PR.
This project represents the largest military construction project in the history of Puerto Rico.
The new barracks project consists of 240,000 sq of new construction, which amounts to a total of 10 barrack buildings. These new facilities add 948 beds to Camp Santiago.
The project also includes the construction of Transient Training Administrative Facilities that will provide the unit performing training with several functional areas: administrative office areas, equipment storage rooms with arms vaults, training work areas, meeting rooms, and maintenance areas. These facilities entail the construction of approximately 17 buildings totaling 80,890 sq.
Finally, the project also includes the construction of approximately 12,000sq of modern dining facilities for soldiers during training.
