U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Chase McKissick, an infantryman with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division coaches Soldiers at an Engagement Skills Trainer at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. February 4, 2023.

“It is a good beginning testing block for our company. Training this way allows us to perfect our fundamentals without being in a rough environment,” said McKissick.

The EST is also a great opportunity for Soldiers to hone their skills without expending live ammunition.

“Our Soldiers can understand the format of how the qualification works. They can go through many practice qualifications without spending rounds,” said McKissick. “It offers hands-on experience before we get them out on the live fire line.”

The new qualification also requires alternate position shooting. The EST allows them to learn and get used to the movements.
