Command Sgt. Maj. Lonnie R. Null passes the 2d Theater Signal Brigade colors to Col. Ronald Iammartino, Commander, 2d Theater Signal Brigade during a Relinquishment of Responsibility ceremony January 18, 2023 at USAG Wiesbaden, Germany. The passing of the colors symbolizes the transfer of command responsibility and authority. The very soul of a military unit is symbolized in the colors under which it fights, for they represent not only the linage and honors of the unit, but also the loyalty and unity of its Soldiers. Null, as the brigade’s command sergeant major, was the senior enlisted Soldier in the unit, and principal advisor to the commander. As such, he was the custodian of the colors.
