USS Decatur (DDG 73) cruises toward Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) for a Combat Systems Assessment Team, or CSAT event early on the morning of Oct. 24. Named after former naval officer Stephen Decatur, this Arleigh Burke-class destroyer is homeported in San Diego. USS Decatur made headlines in 2018 after a Chinese destroyer nearly collided with her as a result of what the Navy later called an “unsafe and unprofessional maneuver” on the part of the Chinese vessel.
