Command, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography

STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Mississippi (Nov. 29, 2022) – Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command hosted a visit by the Naval Research Lab’s (NRL) Research Advisory Council to give their members an understanding of the historic and ongoing direct impact of NRL research on Naval Oceanography operations. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command directs and oversees more than 2,500 globally-distributed military and civilian personnel who collect, process and exploit environmental information to assist Fleet and Joint Commanders in all warfare areas to make better decisions faster than the adversary.
On the tour were Capt. Gregory Petrovic, NRL Commanding Officer; Dr. Bruce Danly, NRL Director of Research; Mr. Todd Schafer, NRL Associate Director of Research, Business Operations; Dr. Douglas Todoroff, NRL Associate Director of Research, Ocean and Atmospheric Science and Technology; Dr. Steven Meier, NRL Associate Director of Research, Naval Center for Space Technology; Dr. Peter Matic, NRL Associate Director of Research, Materials Science and Component Technology; Dr. James Hansen, Superintendent, Marine Meteorology Division; Dr. Brian Houston, Superintendent, Acoustics Division; Dr. Christoph Englert, Superintendent, Space Science Division; Dr. Jeffrey Bowles, Acting Superintendent, Remote Sensing Division; Dr. Joseph Calantoni, Acting Superintendent, Ocean Sciences Division; Dr. Justin Bobak, Remote Sensing Physics Branch; Dr. Josette Fabre, Acoustics Simulation Measurements and tactics Branch; and Cmdr. Jeanette Sheets, Military Deputy, Ocean Sciences Division.
