U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Lindsey Hayes monitors the air space above Japan while participating in Keen Sword 23, Sagami General Depot, Japan Nov. 12, 2022. Staff Sgt. Hayes is one of the U.S. Army Pacific of Soldiers participating in the annual joint bilateral exercise Keen Sword 23. Keen Sword is an ideal training scenario, allowing JSDF and U.S. military forces to work together across a variety of areas to enhance the already broad interoperability of U.S. and Japanese forces. During Keen Sword service members from the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force will conduct training with their JSDF counterparts throughout mainland Japan, Okinawa prefecture, and surrounding territorial waters to strengthen multilateral cooperation.
