U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. David C. Burton, commanding officer of 8th Communication Battalion, (left) presents U.S. Navy Lt. Albert Peterson II, chaplain with 8th Communication Battalion, a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal after a conditioning hike aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Nov. 10, 2022. The hike was conducted in order to celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday while building combat readiness, unit cohesion, and esprit de corps. During the hike, 8th Communication Battalion held a competition by seeing which company could carry and deliver the most amount of canned goods to the hike finish line.
