Hanson, 163rd Forces Support Squadron commander, 163rd Attack Wing, California National Guard, has a creative civilian career as an author, where he has used his military experiences as inspiration to write children's books. Hanson has two books published, one which focuses on coping with the loss of a loved one, while the other, centers on a fictionalized version of Salem, Massachusetts, where all the classic monsters live.
