A chicken carcass launched at the Bird Impact Range at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee, strikes the canopy of an F-16 Fighting Falcon during bird strike impact testing in 1983. The range, more famously known as the “Chicken Gun,” was used to simulate in-flight bird strikes to aircraft canopies and other materials by launching chicken carcasses at test articles.
