Coast Guard interdicts 49 Dominican Republic nationals during illegal voyage in the Mona Passage [Image 1 of 2]
The Coast Guard Cutter Winslow Griesser near Desecheo Island, Puerto Rico Oct. 1, 2022, interdicts Forty-nine Dominicans aboard a makeshift boat taking part in an illegal voyage. The cutter repatriated 47 persons from this group to a Dominican Republic Navy vessel Oct. 2, 2022, while the remaining two are facing federal prosecution in Puerto Rico on charges of attempting to bring undocumented aliens into the United States. The interdiction is the result of ongoing local and federal multi-agency efforts in support of the Caribbean Border Interagency Group, CBIG. (U.S. Coast Guard photo).
