Sarah Milner, a Family member of U.S. Army Master Sgt. Edgar Warren Hardy shares his story and shows an identification tag that she and her sisters hold close on personal key chains. She points out the misspelling of his name during the Family Member Update (FMU) Conference, hosted by DPAA in Denver, Sept. 10, 2022. MSG Hardy joined the U.S. Army from Oklahoma, served with I Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was captured by enemy forces on July 12, 1950, as his unit engaged the North Korean People’s Army near Chochiwon, South Korea. He reached the prison camp at An-dong in the spring of 1951, and died of malnutrition and dysentery on September 30, 1951. 71 years later, family members receive information on each of their cases with one-on-one sessions by each of their case managers. The conference moves to cities throughout the U.S. to reach and update the family members of missing loved ones (DoD photo by Air Force Lt. Col. Tamara R Fischer-Carter)
