Iwakuni, Japan (Aug. 12, 2022) Marines with 9th Engineering Support Battalion (ESB) and Marine Wing Support Squadron(MWSS) 171,, conduct site surveying as part of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Landfill Cap and Close project. The accurate mapping and surveying of the area enables current, desired, and future elevations to ensure quality control measures are achieved. NMCB-4 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories to support and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB-4 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction.
