U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Patrick Allison a Cottrell a mortarman (Top) and Lance Cpl. Daniel Neal a machine gunner (Middle) with Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, participate in a 9/11 memorial stair climb, aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) in the Philippine Sea, Sep. 11, 2022. The stair climb simulated the ascension of 110 floors in remembrance of the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
