U.S Army Sgt. 1st Class Jay Utter, HHC 1-163rd Combined Arms Battalion (CAB), repairs an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with Italian Air Force Warrant Officer Paolo Robles, commander of a counter-UAV team with the 16th Force Protection Wing of the Italian Air Force, as part of Exercise Eager Lion 22, at Training Area 1, Jordan, September 8, 2022. The RQ-11 Raven unmanned aerial vehicle weighs only 4.2 pounds, has a 55-inch wingspan and measures three feet in length, its operators believe its unimpressive dimensions feed a common misconception. But don't let its looks fool you. It's tougher than it appears, which was good as the Italian counter-UAV team was testing new technology during the exercise. Eager Lion 22, a multilateral exercise hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is key to building trust with new partners, while allowing us to sustain mature relationships that highlight the value of operating in unfamiliar environments, maximizing our collective strengths and building interoperability.
