A classroom or training session is taking place, with an instructor writing on a large whiteboard at the front of the room. Students seated at a table are facing the instructor, with the foreground showing a person in a yellow quilted jacket and black knit cap wearing black gloves. An Iraqi flag is visible hanging on the wall in the background.

Juvenile detainees participate in class at the Dar al-Hikmah juvenile education center in western Baghdad. The juvenile education center is one of the educational programs provided to detainees in the care and custody of coalition forces. Detainee students receive a basic core curriculum of Arabic, civics, history, science, geography and math in an attempt to make them successful citizens who resist outside insurgent influences upon their release.
