PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 9, 2022) – Lt. Pedro Fernandez, chaplain for combat logistics battalion 13 (CLB-13), facilitates a safeTALK workshop, a suicide prevention course in the chapel aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Aug. 9. In addition to religious services, Navy chaplains provide counseling, life skills training, and plan community service opportunities for Sailors and Marines in domestic and foreign ports. Makin Island, flagship of amphibious squadron (CPR) SEVEN, along with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is currently underway conducting integrated training in the U.S. 3rd fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
