Voting dates for the 2022 U.S. elections is fast approaching. On Nov. 28, 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats will be contested. Many states will also be holding their primary and general elections in the fall.

Soldiers and their Family members working on Fort Jackson can participate in both federal and state elections through absentee voting, but the deadline for federal elections is soon.

Absentee ballots should be returned by October 27 for those serving within the U.S, October 13 for those residing overseas and October 5 for those personnel serving aboard a ship at sea.

The Fort Jackson Voting Assistance Office provided a variety of information just inside the Exchange to include the absentee ballot request form to mail into their state’s office of elections. Once received, those office will get ballots into the hands of Soldiers and their Family members through e-mail, postal mail, and even by fax for those who prefer it.

For those looking for digital convenience, absentee ballot requests can be made and tracked online at the Federal Voting Assistance Program website at FVAP.gov. A complete list of instructions on making absentee requests to include special state requirements to register can be found at the website.

For additional information, contact the Federal Voting Assistance Program by calling (800) 438-5658 or e-mail vote@fvap.com.
