Military honors are given to U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. David J. Furness, Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations during the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) change of command ceremony on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., June 24, 2022. The mission of MCESG is to screen, train, assign, and ensure operational readiness, administration, logistical support and discipline of Marines for duty as Marine Security Guards (MSGs). MSGs provide support to U.S. diplomatic missions in support of the Department of State and the protection of personnel, classified material, and U.S. property.
