Renee Oats, an engineer from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, uses a tripod-mounted lidar scanner to capture data points on a decommissioned frigate in Philadelphia in mid-February. Oats and other lidar megaproject team members scanned the entire ship to build a 3D model, which will serve as a baseline for battle damage assessment following a recent static detonation training event and an upcoming test evolution.
